Wherever You Go

If all goes well, while you are reading this, I hope to be on top of a glacier in southeast Alaska, “mushing” dogs.   Say, what…?

My husband and I will be on our much needed and highly anticipated vacation of a lifetime—an Alaskan cruise.  A great deal and many milestones to celebrate…, it was a no-brainer as our gift to each other.  So while you’re sipping a warm cup of coffee and relaxing this morning, I hope to be screaming my head off (in a good way) with a big smile. (pictures to follow later).

Why am I telling you this?

For two reasons:

First, today I get to write a little about my favorite “travel” verse.

Second, there will be a very, very special guest writer next week.  I could spend all day chatting about her, but she would not like that.  I’ve seen a peek of what she will be sharing and I think you will love it!

So my verse…my very special verse…

Psalm 139: 7-10:

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”

Some scripture lends itself to being scanned over, but this one…this one says so much.  It reminds me, it should remind you, that no matter where we go He is there.  This verse cements to me that God is not tied up in churches as so many believe.  He’s not tied up in buildings on just Sunday mornings.  He doesn’t suddenly disappear when the services are over.  He is with us anywhere and everywhere—even on vacation!

I’ve held on to this verse like a comfort-blankey over the years.  And when I travel, I pull it in even closer.

So, maybe  you are heading out on a summer vacation, or just going to the grocery store–either venture–He is with you, wherever you go. Scripture showed us–to the depths of the ocean, in the barren deserts, or to the top of a glacier—our God, our Father is there.  We cannot escape him…and that is a great thing!!

Maybe it is your verse now.  I’d love to share with you.  I don’t think God will mind.  😉

See you in a couple weeks.
