Inspire: Hearing God
“…but our confidence comes from God.” 2Corinthians 3:5b NIV
We so desperately want to hear directly from God.
We seek a one on one conversation where His voice and our voice are audible to each other.
Yet, God does things differently than we do.
He chooses to speak in ways that are a bit more cryptic.
In our desperation though, to have it our way, we often miss His way.
And His way looks like repetition.
Repetition in messages. Repetition in words. Repetition in readings.
If you want to hear what God has to say, look around at what He sends.
When those struggles and emotions stack up, look closely at what follows.
Most often the morning devotionals match the morning verses match the Sunday sermons match the friend phone calls match the radio messages match the latest speaker match the book marks match the coffee cups match the bumper stickers match the logos match the memes match the videos and on and on and on.
You see God still talks to us today; He just does it His way.
If you’re wanting to hear from God, don’t wait for the bullhorn, watch for the echo.

Renae,
My fave sentence, “If you’re wanting to hear from God don’t wait for the bullhorn, watch for the echo.” Thank you for the reminder of how He delights in communicating with us in His own unique, persistent manner.
Elaine–I love His unique and persistent manner, too! Yes! Blessings to you.
So true Renae. I have seen it so many times. Thank you for your Thursday Hope.
You’re welcome Lori. Blessings to you.
