Looking Back

I was taking some time to reflect on the past year, and came across a Bible verse from Luke 9:62 that really made me pause. It said:

“No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”

How much time have we spent looking back this year, or the years gone by?

We’ve put our hand to the plow and begun the work, but we keep wondering and worrying how serving God’s kingdom will fit in with the rest of our life duties.

When we do this, God says we are “not fit for service”. This doesn’t mean we’re failures and unworthy of his calling, it means our thinking doesn’t yet FIT into the cogs of commitment he requires of his servants.

My prayer is for us to forge ahead in 2014 with our hand steady on the plow, and our eyes, thoughts, and heart aimed ever forward; trusting God to gift the resources and energy needed to balance all areas of our life.

Happy New Year, and plow on!

Amen! It needed to be said, so thank you, Raye. We need to raise the bar on our commitment and priority to God and His service, and put Him number one, if we are to make any headway in this world. It is the only way to overcome the world, and not look back on what we think we missed, or are missing. Happy New Year to you, too! Onward, Sisters!
