Inspire: When You Doubt–It’s Ok!

“He who has ears, let him hear.” Matthew 11:15

Living by faith and not by sight can have its moments of questioning.

When we don’t see the answers to our prayers or when the worst happens instead of the best, we can sit in the doubt instead of rejoice in the trust.

And that’s ok. It’s normal. It’s our nature.

From time’s first day others have doubted, too.

Some of the greats, have had their moments.

We even see it in the one who came before Jesus.

As John the Baptist languished away in a prison, he sent word to find out straight from the source if he had been wrong about Jesus…should he expect another Messiah.

He doubted.

John the Baptist, the one who knew whom Jesus was from the moment he met Him; the one who saw the Spirit descend from the heavens and heard a voice that claimed Jesus as the Son, and who told others of the greatness…needed to know more when he was faced with less.

He sent a message.

Jesus responded.

He told of miracles.

He told of the growing believers.

He told of the spreading message.

He spoke of His love for John.

Yet, John remained in prison.

Friends if you’re facing a prison of your own and are in the middle of doubts because prayers aren’t being answered, go ahead, send word to Jesus about your doubts. It’s ok. Ask Him to show you. Ask Him to explain. Ask Him for understanding.

Perhaps, like with John, in Jesus’ response you’ll come to know more about the great Messiah than you will about the problem.

John rested on that. It is what he was seeking. It is what carried him through.

It can be what carries you through—doubts and all.

O Renae, this is so powerful. I will red flag it on my computer to send to others and print a copy to keep in a special place for myself to refer to. Thank you. May the Lord continue to bless you with pertinent messages from Him.
