Inspire: An Empty Altar

“But all of you…don’t pay back evil for evil or insult with insult, but repay the bad with a blessing.” 1 Peter 3:8-9 (Voice)

A complete stranger prayed over me a few days ago.

As I sat alone, a man told me he felt it in his heart to come connect and pray with me.

I so needed prayer at that very moment!

I was caught in a struggle that weighed me down.

I was wrought with emotion that I could no longer bear.

I had just asked Jesus to come by my side!

A blessed stranger now stood before me.

Beyond the goose bumps of what was happening, the words this man spoke hit my heart.

I’m wondering if you may need to hear them too?

Is there something heavy on your heart?

Is there a struggle you are facing right now?

Is there strife where peace used to be?

Between the prayers, this man asked…

Have you put the person, the issues, and the problem on the altar of God to be blessed?”

To be blessed?

I hadn’t.

Blessing another wasn’t exactly my request of God.

I was thinking of the blessings I needed.

His words stirred inside of me.

The altar came into view.

I put it all there.

Will you?

God’s altar stands empty and waiting for what you are facing.

What you want to curse, God wants to bless.

Take it to the altar my friend. Pray for God to lift up what you’d rather tear down. Let God’s grace cover it all.
